Recovering activist. It's just Rooster and me. My biggest immediate concern is somehow divining a theory of change. How do we transmute outrage into (effective) action? Please advise.
in other words, the training data

Yes and: Wasn't "identity politics" a GOP strategy. Southern strategy and all that. Though I admit I have no idea what everyone's going on about. Just that Dems are bad. Because reasons.

The more I read about "identity politics", the more I'm confused. I'm gonna need some examples.

Robert Cato's LBJ biography illustrates why the US Senate must be abolished. (It's original purpose is to not function.)

Reminder: Postal ballots were invented to enfranchise people in the military.

Also: Outcomes are (formerly) decided when the canvassing board certifies an election; IIRC 3 weeks after the polls close (in my jurisdiction).

Of course, proportional representation (for assemblies) and approval voting (for executive roles) are The Correct Answer™. Socialize and normalize better election systems. eg I introduced approval voting to my local party (for endorsements). So much better (less drama) and so it stuck.

"The Democratic Party" cannot and will not reform itself. Parties defend and uphold the status quo.

Reform comes from outside of the parties. Learn from how the Tea Party and paleocons seized the GOP, how the civil rights & antiwar movements wrestled for control of the Dems, etc.

Aside: Sinema and Manchin were self-selected arrow catchers for the US Senate's Dem caucus. Now it's Fetterman's turn.

Primary everyone every election. Primaries are the tiny window where some discourse can sneak in.

How would he even know? I've never seen this Karp fella at any Democratic Party functions.

The question is, Retsef Levi (math PhD and risk expert), how to prove a negative. Move over Aristotle, Retsef here is rewriting the book on logic.

True. Maybe de-radicalization and retail politics can be complimentary. Both are hard to scale. Since we're already doorbelling, might as well work in some outreach (support, listening, empathy).

Klein's auditioning to be NYT's managing editor.

True. Nicely done.

Local participation is where it all starts. For me, that's WA State 36 Legislative District Democrats.

Every one can have immediate impact. Discourse, organizing, mobilizing, endorsements, recruiting, policy work. Elections are just the most publicly visible part.

Nicely done; great work. Systematically harnessing this direct feedback would be awesome.

Last time I doorbelled was a few cycles back. IIRC, our org used NPG VAN. It wasn't great. Opaque feedback loops, etc.

I support any data based alts to consultant & pundit brain concern trolls.

Aha. Then is "replacing human workers and nuance with AI" (yet) another form of bureaucracy? a la Seeing Like a State.

(I have to think thru your larger thesis. Thank you for explaining.)

Electeds oppose party building, as a rule. Further, noobs (pundits) criticizing "The Dems" happily conflate politicians with the (1,000s of) Democratic parties.
November 5, 2025 at 5:18 PM
Tragically, these lazy pundits can no longer blather about how Dem wins are bad for Biden Admin.
