No, I haven't seen the show. But yes, you should absolutely read the book. I've heard Hugh be criticized about his amount of detail but I found it enthralling. Also, so much death.

This book was a fever dream. Billed as YA some find it's content questionable. A hilariously graphic teenage time loop with a mysterious octopus on a remote island.
If you have the crude humor of a horny teenager this is the book for you.
