We are in a bad place, to be sure, but normalizing the murking of people with whom we disagree, even the most reprehensible ones, is going to reveal just how much further down we can go. At some point you do have to be better than the other team and I feel like this is a fairly easy test.

I gotta say that I am shocked, frankly, at the number of ppl who point to Kirk's words as a permission structure for what happened. The flaw in that reasoning should be obvious. I am not looking to Charlie Kirk for guidance on what constitutes an effective way to participate in civil society.
