My grandfather sees the Jim Crow and Civil Rights eras as more overtly brutal, but I find the 150-year persistence of these systemic issues just as concerning. I cannot believe this is today's America! Maybe the world now sees what my ancestors and I experienced.

This brings to mind a story about my grandpa. He and others were targeted with fire hydrants, but the hose plugged, sending the water surging back onto the police instead. It’s a vivid image of irony, yet a sobering reminder that despite all these years, the core of the struggle remains unchanged

If Walz was truly pressured out of the governor's race by Trump, I have to wonder about his effectiveness as a VP. Perhaps that’s just my Type A mindset, but it’s a red flag for me.
