The Senate version is different, so we’ll be watching to see if Congress actually puts people over polluters, or if they shut down the government to fight for corporate interests.

Appropriators in the House proposed:

❌Slashing the EPA budget by $2 billion (~23%)
❌Eliminating funding for enforcement of conservation protections in the Arctic
❌Auctioning off public lands and waters for drilling, indefinitely.

Congress needs to pass the appropriations bill, or a stopgap called a “continuing resolution,” by September 31st to avert a government shutdown.
The Senate and the House haven’t agreed on the text yet, but House Republicans want to tear the environment to bits.
