I think he means he thought he would have oversight and ultimate veto over everything, transfers, coaching, everything. The 18 months thing is roughly to the end of his current contract, so maybe he is signalling he has no interest in the +1 or further extension.

I would have that was obvious, so that they become more ready. It’s not like he only found out about AFCON one month ago. He could have given Kobbie more minutes to build up his routine and injury resistance. Instead a bit of a gamble - we’ll be ok, we have Bruno and Kobbie - and now no backup plan

I would have that was obvious, so that they become more ready. It’s not like he only found out about AFCON one month ago. He could have given Kobbie more minutes to build up his routine and injury resistance. Instead a bit of a gamble - we’ll be ok, we have Bruno and Kobbie - and now no backup plan
If he gets sacked, I feel it won’t be before summer. This summer is a massive decision point for his future - one year left on his contract (with a +1 option). So the club has to decide whether to keep backing him or try something new

I don’t feel like an Amorim-outer but I don’t think he should be beyond all criticism, notably poor substitutions and timing of subs and negligent preparation for AFCON - he could have given some of these youngsters some experience well ahead of now and then they would be more ready for now.

We didn’t exactly set the world alight playing 4 at the back. I feel this is deeper than a system problem.

I think the point is, it’s not necessarily the formation or “system”, for me it’s playing players in the right positions and being able to respond to different game states, and we’re failing on both.

successful managers show flexibility and adapt their tactics over time, to suit the players, to challenge opposition, to keep up with the times - eg SAF used 442, 451, 4411, 433… it’s fine that Amorim should be inflexible now to impress his style on the team, but will he be open to adapt in future?
