On the plus side Musk has highlighted exactly why we shouldn't allow billionaires to exist. They are corrupting politics not only on a national level but on an international level as well.

Wearing sunglasses all the time is also a Jim Jones move and it's fitting because MAGA is definitely a cult

It's his second term, he's completely unshackled by poll numbers now. We can only hope he does such damage to the Republican party that members cross the aisle on the impeachment vote.

It's possible that Elon Musk is abusing ketamine, as he has publicly stated that he takes a prescribed low dose for "depression"

But chronic or high-dose use can lead to cognitive impairment, poor decision-making, and detachment from reality—which aligns with Musk’s increasingly erratic behavior

there is no credible evidence that Karl Marx ever said or wrote, "Keep people from their history and they are easily controlled." This quote is often attributed to him, but it does not appear in any of his works.

I switched to Kobo books years ago. I can download books from different services to my Kobo e-reader. Plenty of free ebooks books on the internet too. No reason to use Amazon.

It's a good idea to divest from all major tech companies, Google included. Many better alternatives are available now.

Have you tried Kobo?

Giving my friends a hug. All of us had to go see the vice principal because we refused to follow the school's draconian "no personal displays of affection" policy.

I feel that it's unfair to characterize Marx's ideas by the actions of authoritarian regimes who used Communism as a Trojan horse to enact their totalitarian rule. Marx genuinely wanted an free and equal society and dictators used that utopian vision as a mere Trojan horse for their own ends.

It's a futile suggestion as Marx's key points have largely been ignored by "communists" in China. And I use the term loosely because Marx outlined communism as being A) classless B) stateless and C) monetary-free. "Communist" China has none of those features.

"the manifesto's influence has led to attempts to rewrite or reinterpret its history and significance"

Uhh, hello, that's exactly what you're doing right now by making false claims regarding the text
February 13, 2025 at 3:17 AM
The Communist Manifesto does not discuss "rewriting history" as a tactic for controlling the future. Please provide page numbers and quotations from the original text to support your claim.

Been using Brave as my search engine. They built their own index from scratch unlike DDG who built theirs off of Bing. Brave has their own browser as well 👍

The "great again" movements are insane. It implies there's been a better time in the past but the past has always been filled with great and terrible injustices. Instead we should be looking towards building a better future for everyone, not just a privileged few.

I think it just highlights the fact that Republicans are really just using fiscal policy and the cost of living as a Trojan horse to enact their racist agendas. If they really cared about wasteful government spending they'd start with the military but that hasn't been the case.

The "soy boy" insult, for example, has been used in far-right circles to mock men who are perceived as weak, playing into both misogyny and racial stereotypes.
