Never thought I’d find myself nostalgic for the days of secret “Torture Memos” being used to justify war in pitching Congress. (Back when Congress had to agree.)

Disappointing. Do better, Perkins.

President of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum gave Trump “full credit” for the name change.

“Thanks to Donald Trump, when one thinks of America, one no longer thinks of liberty,” she said. “One thinks of TACO.”

Today in NYT’s ethics column (though unburdened by what might have been useful mention of the first sale doctrine), the author gets this issue right. Patronizing used art is “sustaining the low-cost democracy of art’s second life.”

Trump administration is obviously about to start threatening to withhold funds from NYU given the obvious anti-Muslim problem. Right? Islamophobia is just as serious and wrong as antisemitism (which let me be clear is bad), right? Violet heads will roll or funds withheld or whatnot?

Timeline cleanse, for trademark nerds.

NYT, quit using this gross rapey language —his “moves on Greenland”—when you discuss the president’s absurd, illegal imperial fantasies. Compare your headline with what he said on the Access Hollywood tape in 2016. That’s how some of us hear you.

Phew! I was worried they were shutting down the Department of Education, not whatever entity this is.
Also it would seem Twitter’s spellcheck function has, like the rest of us, abandoned the platform.

Also, silence your (suspected sassy) wife, just in case

Pogo, checking out the fire and wondering who that rather fetching pomsky is

Tell me NYT, is the first “sign” I’m getting older that I don’t bother clicking on your dumb clickbait?

Fourth Circuit ordered a stay on lower court's PI enjoining EO on DEI. We now need to wait and see. But don't miss the powerfully worded concurrence, noting EO's lack of definition of DEI; praising efforts to increase inclusion & "true equity"; and asking "what could be more American than that?" ♥️

Proof that not *everything* is getting worse

Good point. And when this guy *approves*?! Same.

Yes! Finally! We professors have survived all the onerous FERPA-compliant messaging tools and rules for a reason!

(Not making light of the plaintiffs in any way btw, my target of ridicule is FERPA itself; go CAIR go!)

I know this is not the point of this post, but omg am I the only law professor on here who is like I’m doing everything wrong (original exams every term)???

Translation for those who don’t speak NYT: U.S. Skips Procedural Steps That Safeguard Due Process, Ignores Well-Settled Norms in Immigration Policy, Violates First Amendment over Protected Political Speech, Brags about it on Social Media, Threatens to Make it a Pattern

Pathetic. NYT interviews “six Americans” for their thoughts on the address to Congress. Guess how many are critical? 0. All six are fans. Like, apparently, NYT itself.
