“How Palestinians would know they were crossing an invisible line was not made clear to them, the soldiers said. ‘How they know is a really good question. Enough people died or got injured crossing that line, so they don’t go near it.’”

From advocating for the “resettlement” of Palestinians from Gaza to negotiating directly with Hamas, the Trump administration has upended U.S. policy in the region, says @zaha-hassan.bsky.social.

With #Palestinians facing renewed #Israeli bombardment in #Gaza and 250k under evacuation orders to move south again, the plans for Gaza's so- called 'day after' seem like a cruel mirage. I discuss with my colleage @sophiabesch.bsky.social @carnegieendowment.org
Israel’s deadly airstrikes this month broke the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. But cracks in the deal appeared before the attacks, and major policy shifts in the region and the U.S. leave the future uncertain.

The good news is Fattouh is head of PLO Palestinian National Council which is the highest legislative body for Palestinians everywhere. Reasserting PLO authority over PA is critical.
Abbas named Rouhi Fattouh as his temporary successor until elections are held, should the time come to replace him. Ramallah officials denied that Abbas' health prompted the decree, but admitted that external pressures influenced the decision
