Step 3: Tell them your role and what you build and maintain. Then ask them if they do something similar? This is huge for me because it allows me to understand if my role is unique in the industry or not. And it helps me find something to talk about.

Step 2: Ask them about the culture for engineering. I asked about how people reach out to one another, do they document things, what are meetings like etc.

Step one : Tell people (mainly recruiters and reps) them you are not looking for a job.
Lowers the pressure and sets expectations for both parties.

I am who I am online as I am IRL (with some professional guardrails at work). So I think that the risks I imagine posting my thoughts and replying to other posts publicly isn't appropriately leveled.(4/6)

Not a single tool necessarily but overtime as I work on more services, more build artifacts pile up that I ignore until I realize I have no more space left. Happens like twice a year in my experience.
