Sure it's a big investment, but games who do it well like Skyrim and BG3 will be enjoyed for many years to come. Worth while imo

Sure, give me a 30-40 hour main quest with as many side quests/options as I can get

I disagree, what makes RPGs so excellent is that they have that depth.
