The tech is just not there yet. “AI” actually replacing coders at nontrivial work is mostly marketing and hype. I work with the stuff all day long at <Tech Company> and can assure you that it’s still terrible at writing software. It’s good at “generating code”, but not at writing software.

At least you got a mini dump.

I drink my little energy drink from this. I think it helps.

@axiomverge.bsky.social Funny enough, I think I found a bug today during an AV play through. Trace can snap to the top of this pillar when moving right, and moving left leaves him stuck near the top.

Interesting approach. I’ve tried a number of different things and each has their own shortcomings. It sounds like no matter the approach, there will be some needed hacks in order ;)

Haha! At least we’re on the same page. The colors in your image are a bit better than the ones in mine since I think I used the actual value of one of the color channels (I think red) and so overall the images were quite dark. The upside is that it’s fast because it’s easy for a shader to do!

How do you go about implementing it? I’ve implemented this once before using shaders and coloring all sprites with a palette that was specially designed to encode which “color index” to use, and then the shader swaps the colors based on the index. It worked well but the source images were ugly.
