Zackenberg keeps the tradition alive with a bonfire, and of course, the legendary 'hundeslæde-piskning'

Spring cleaning of the water tanks - our logistics team is hard at work giving the water tanks a fresh start for the season! In spring, our water supply comes from melted snow, while in summer, we switch to river water.

Over the past weeks, #ICOS team has worked hard to build a new, more robust flux mast in the fen. The structure is sturdier and better protected against curious polar bears.
It’s now fully operational with a methane sensor added. Check out the before-and-after photos - exciting new data coming soon!

The landing strip in Zackenberg is now fully cleared and ready after days of dedicated snow removal – just in time for the arrival of the flight early next week. Onboard will be GEM scientists kicking off the season’s GeoBasis- and glaciological monitoring.

Our logistician team has been working tirelessly over the past three weeks to prepare the station for the upcoming season. Fuel drums and building materials have been successfully transported over the ice from Daneborg to Zackenberg. The first projects will arrive on April 15.
