For those of us who have always believed in assisted dying, it's quite an extraordinary thing to see happen. The kind of daring, delicate, sensitive decision which British politics almost always ducks - suddenly grasped.

Oh I see! Yes I see the distinction - I can imagine most in Gov are reticent to commit to a process which binds their hand? Although I guess most wouldn't commit to taking action rather than 'listening' and reporting back...

That's fair - I guess there is a distinction in that respect, but the process and intentions look similar on the face of it.

I feel there must be some crowdsourcing effects they're hoping for... giving people some feeling of involvement and stake in the thing as you say they bloody pay for! Reminds me also of crowdcube investments... some don't need it, but they do it for the community feels...
