I definitely don't consider the shill Dershowitz or the gun-toting Loesch anywhere near my own personal 'acceptable lines of debate' either. they're value-free talking heads. Weiss is aiming for an amoral, vacuous centrism where truths will be silenced for being 'too radical' or 'too inflammatory'.

Bret Stephens is by far the most offensively bad columnist I've ever read in the NYT. And I have read early 2000s Friedman (who is somewhat better today) and David Brooks. Stephens' writing is a cornucopia of bad takes that pop up in every sentence - a hall of mirrors where everything's distorted

because Trump keeps claiming that he wants to make Canada the '51st state' of the U.S. Both teams wearing the colors of the American flag is perhaps a type and shadow reflecting the larger reality of this debate. The Dodgers are heavy favorites to win this series.

An insidious aspect of this regime is that they do things like this in order to get people on the left to react, after which they will claim that the left is blowing 'small' stuff out of proportion. It's a targeted trolling tactic, and though completely evil, it has succeeded in muddying the waters

It's completely evil, but also kind of genius, in a way, to plot out a fake persona for yourself and then run as a leftist so as to either (a) throw the election and intentionally lose, or (b) win the election and use yr platform as an influencer to discredit leftism. Dude may be a fake plant
