For @ebertvoices.bsky.social, I reviewed KEEPER, which I found to be a tedious genre exercise undone by an undercooked narrative & its allergy to mystery, yet it features an all-timer performance of Tatiana Maslany. Woe to those who can’t pick the ghosts of the house they live in. Link ⬇️

Elated that ALIEN: EARTH is coming back for s2. Back when the season finale aired, I spoke with Sydney Chandler & Babou Ceesay abt where they’d like to see their characters go. Full interview at @ebertvoices.bsky.social (spoilers: will the partnership between hybrid & Xeno last?) Link below:

Grateful I could contribute a top 10 this year to @ebertvoices.bsky.social! It was incredibly difficult to choose hence the inordinate runner-ups / honorable mentions. Ate good at the movies this year 🎥: www.rogerebert.com/features/the...

Hope Simon McBurney gets his flowers (or pigpen heads?) for his work in NOSFERATU. Every bit as unhinged & licentious, he plays obsequious so well, a haunting portrait of when your faith in wickedness is rewarded in macabre ways. A true standout.

Still thinking abt THE MONK AND THE GUN. Humorously unpredictable, politically daring & narratively facetious, I'm in love with its imagination & its whimsical rebuke of the destructive allure of modernity. There are just some things American excess & triumphalism can't buy; my #1 film of 2024 atm.
