That's a good point, with the conservatives out of the picture, that's when an NDP party under new leadership could thrive as an alternative to the Liberals. At least if we don't get complacent. The collapse of the US under Trump might convince enough people that the cons are never an option

He's better than PP, that's for sure. Not sure he's actually going to be a good PM though, it seems like probably not. And then the conservatives will be resurgent because most people will be worse off and angry. In that case, it may be good to actually have a viable progressive party
March 19, 2025 at 2:06 AM
That's a positive thing. I got the impression from some of his rhetoric that he thinks Canada actually does well at that as it stands now though. Although that could just be in contrast to the US. We'll see.

They're both immature and egotistical so I'd say it's pretty good. Trump will throw Elon under the bus
March 18, 2025 at 2:01 PM
Fair enough. Fascism thrives when the working class isn't doing as well as they were in prior years, so that working on the rest part is going to be crucial. At least there's a possibility that the liberals are amendable to more progressive policies.
March 18, 2025 at 1:57 PM
He tried to overcome it with Trumpian "Canada first" rhetoric. Swing and a miss
March 18, 2025 at 1:55 PM
I think a lot of it is the Trump association. People see that PP is Trumpian and it's giving off bad vibes. He was unlikable already but leading before the Trump stuff
March 18, 2025 at 1:53 PM
So what happens in 4 years when the decline in living standards and concentration of wealth in the hands of few has continued and most people are in an even worse situation? And we all backed Carney and now have no progressive movement left, right back where we started
March 18, 2025 at 1:51 PM
PP rose to prominence primarily out of making a positive point for himself, he did it by criticizing Trudeau and through negativity. And I don't think that Carney has good policies. But perhaps the optimal way to go about it would be to ignore him and simply talk about policies
March 18, 2025 at 1:47 PM
Some people are honest and digest criticism. But that's besides the point, criticizing a politician isn't the same as criticizing a voter. People can absolutely change their minds about a politician when people criticize that politician. That's exactly what happened to Trudeau. It's not like...
March 18, 2025 at 1:45 PM
talking about Carney to progressives, as far as the median voter goes, I don't say much about Carney. If they vote for him rather than the conservatives, that's fine). My major fear is that in 4 years we're right back where we are now, people not seeing an option besides the cons or liberals
March 18, 2025 at 1:43 PM
You have a strong point about beating the conservatives. Perhaps the ideal rhetorical strategy would be to go after the conservatives for their Trumpian ideology and policies and make that connection as much as possible, while promoting progressivism, and largely not talking about Carney (I'm only..
March 18, 2025 at 1:41 PM
My point is that we need a strong progressive movement and to persuade more people to actually be progressive. This kind of support for Carney is harming progressivism and will ensure that when Carney ultimately fails, there will be no progressive movement left to win after that, only conservatives
March 18, 2025 at 1:31 PM
Suppose that Carney wins the next election, what's to stop people from voting for the conservatives in the following election? Is Carney actually going to improve the quality of life for most people? Is he going to address any of the problems that made the conservatives popular in the first place?
March 18, 2025 at 1:25 PM

March 18, 2025 at 1:23 PM
Explain how criticizing Carney is shooting ourselves in the foot and how criticizing is not productive. I think I made myself pretty clear: Carney is terrible and his policies like lower taxes for the rich, less of a price on pollution, do little to address the unfair housing market, etc, are bad.
March 18, 2025 at 1:11 PM
If only we didn't treat housing as a vehicle to enrich the wealthy further and we actually invested in good services. Making Canada a decent place to live would be the first step, but that's too much for Canadians. The idea that people would want to live in Canada instead of Europe is ludicrous
March 18, 2025 at 12:58 PM
evils that Canada does and will continue to do under him. He's a standard neoliberal and will do nothing to change the concentration of wealth among the few or fix any of our quality of life problems
March 18, 2025 at 12:49 PM
I asked what I asked. When is the right time to talk about how bad his values and policies are instead of praising him for tough words against Trump and not being PP? Something tells me that you don't care very much about the continual decline in living standards for the majority of people or the...
March 18, 2025 at 12:47 PM
I don't care about your video but I think people should be ruthlessly criticizing him for his terrible values and policies
March 18, 2025 at 12:45 PM
Yes, you have criticized him which is good. But I feel like the house is on fire and he's turning off the oven to make sure that doesn't start a second fire, and people are taking the time to praise that.
March 18, 2025 at 12:41 PM
When do we stop being positive and start criticizing him more? I think he's entirely to the wrong guy and will do little to combat the decline in living standards due to neoliberalism. At least he's not PP, but that's a pretty low bar.
March 18, 2025 at 12:36 PM
You fail to explain how it was mismanaged, what evidence there is that removing it will help with the cost-of-living crisis, and what you actually plan to do in order to reduce the amount of harm that Alberta's pollution does to the world and Albertans.
March 16, 2025 at 10:25 AM
This is hilarious. But besides that, I think it's time to stop paying attention to what he says and just focus on the task ahead. He can't be reasoned with and can't be trusted, so besides being the political equivalent of a trashy reality show, there's nothing to see here.
