With fires in the hills & political retrenchment all around, new scales & forms of transformative adaptation are more essential than ever.

The book is organized around 4 LEGS: Livelihoods, Environment, (Self-) Governance, and Security (of tenure).

Includes projects in: New Orleans, Sao Paolo, Paris, Portland (OR), Houston, Pine Ridge, Pune (India), Bolivia, Bangkok, Shenzhen, Nairobi, and San Juan (PR).

New Orleans has a similar - though lower tech - version of this on many streets. The parking lanes on many streets are simply left unpaved and thus permeable. I don't know the history, but I love this as an example of low cost green infrastructure before 'green infrastructure' was a thing.
