What is amazing is that nothing is happening. Of any other team in MLB lost 20 of 21 SOMEBODY would get fired. Not the A’s. How can this be taken as a legitimate baseball organization with zero repercussions? How do David Forst and/or Mark Kotsay still have a job?

In my head I heard what a former MLB hitter told me, “oh, in extra innings I revert back to the womb and I try to get the reliever before he gets me - I am hacking at the first pitch if it’s close.”

I’d be interested to see visiting team vs home team BB/K rates in extra innings. Are visiting teams being more patient at the plate with a runner already on second or are they swinging away to try and strike first to get the runner in from second. The “strategy” in extra innings seems sillier, now.

It started with Nixon. Ike was the last principled Republican and even he had his flaws. But at least he sounded off a warning of the power of the military industrial complex.
