If someone *still* wanted to self-host email .. a couple extra suggestions:
* Stalwart for inbound mail and mailboxes (stalw.art)
* Amazon SES for outbound mail (aws.amazon.com/ses/)

Amazon is dirt cheap and avoids pretty much all of the problems with mail getting blocked by Microsoft and Google.

As someone who self-hosts email - it's a massive pain, and I'd only ever recommend it to someone who a) really knows what they're doing, and b) has the patience to deal with Microsoft and Google etc. blacklisting the server.

I should be clear that I don't hate ads and I suspect ads will come to Bluesky sooner rather than later, but wow the enshittification is real over there.

I really hope @bsky.app can stick to a decent balance between UX and revenue when it happens..

You always seem to see one post from a friend first, then a sponsored post (aka: ad), then a couple cycles of: four suggested posts + one sponsored post, before you see anything you actually care enough about that you've followed it.

And people wonder why engagement with Meta platforms has dropped!
