The government has announced that most measures in the Renters Rights Act will come into force on 1st May 2026.

This is a significant victory for renters and a watershed moment for the private rented sector.

Devastating benefit sanctions have become the DWP's go-to response for first-time infractions, according to new research from @publiclawproject.bsky.social.

The government should abandon proposals to expand sanctions to seriously ill and disabled people.

We’ve joined 100+ others in calling for the government to fully scrap the two-child limit.

Every child deserves the best start in life. By fully scrapping the two-child limit the government can deliver a decisive shift in children’s opportunities, and in the UK's potential.

Abolishing the two-child limit in full is vital. It would be a bold step forward in tackling child poverty.

But retaining the household benefit cap will stop some families from seeing the benefits of this. This cap should also be scrapped.

Making the benefits system meaner has backfired.

We need to end the culture of fear and overhaul the punitive PIP assessment system.

We welcome the government’s announcement that the Timms Review will not aim to make cuts to PIP.

We’re calling for the Review to build on this and overhaul the punitive PIP assessment system.

We're proud to be Morrison & Foerster's London Charity of the Year.

To date in 2025, Pro Bono volunteers from Morrison & Foerster have secured more than £156,279 of income our clients were entitled to, but previously denied by an unjust system.

Frozen housing benefit rates are deepening poverty and homelessness.

Other government support is failing to plug the gap.
We're joining @crisis-uk.bsky.social and others to call on the Chancellor to act.

This #ProBonoWeek, we're highlighting the impact of Z2K's Pro Bono Project.

Our partnership with dedicated law firm volunteers has reclaimed, in the last year alone, over £2.73 million in vital social security income, for people unjustly denied what they're entitled to.

Abel’s experience is too common among the people we support.

He experienced homelessness for five months. Because housing benefit did not cover the cost of rent, he couldn’t find anywhere he could afford.

His message to the Chancellor: fix housing benefit on 26 November. [1/5]

Half measures won't stop child poverty increasing.

The entire two-child limit must go.
Fully repealing the two-child limit is by far the best way to ensure fewer children are growing up in poverty.

Half measures have been mooted, but our modelling reveals that they would all still lead to an increase in child poverty by the end of the decade.

Making the benefits system meaner has backfired.

The punitive PIP system is leaving disabled people too afraid to try work. It’s time to overhaul the broken assessment process.

The government has today said that the Timms Review will not aim to ‘generate proposals for further savings’ from PIP.

This is a welcome commitment. We need to see a decisive break from the punitive reforms of the past.

People with mild anxiety already fail to qualify for PIP. These proposals are not based in reality.

Dialling up the meanness of the system has backfired. We need to break the endless cycle of cuts and punishment.
