Our volunteers continue to work hard on the reconstruction to Yarra Glen every day, including welding by our own in-house qualified volunteers.

The Walker Rail Motor we run 22RM, came to Healesville in 2006, was restored by our volunteers (& won an award in the process), and started running trips in 2010. The rail motor started life with Victorian Railways in 1948, running on branch lines just like the Healesville line, for over 30 years.

We run return train trips from Healesville station up to a point near Tarrawarra. Healesville station was a terminus on the Lilydale to Healesville line, and the station building you see here was built in 1902 replacing a temporary station from when the line opened in 1889.

Hello to our new followers! 👋
If you've not met us before, a little about the Yarra Valley Railway.
A volunteer organisation, we're located in Healesville, in the picturesque Yarra Valley, in Victoria. We're currently working on reconstructing the railway line between Healesville and Yarra Glen.

Trolley Tuesday! Just because..

This 8W class trolley is normally used by our volunteers to run a track patrol along the railway at the start of a running day, to check the line is safe and free of obstructions before we run passenger trains with our Walker Rail Motor for the day.
