A powerhouse Indigenous woman was scapegoated when blowing the whistle on conflict of interest, very much so doing her job, and kicked to the side when she wasn’t making Trudeau look good.

A young woman of colour was put in an integral portfolio without any intention of it succeeding, scapegoating the “failure” of pro-rep on a WOC, allowing Trudeau to say Canadian don’t care for pro-rep despite it being a key election promise.

Feminist scholars and activists saw through the smoke and mirrors of this initiative from the jump. We have ALWAYS fought against performative feminism that looks good but does nothing to actually invest in and listen to women.

Placing women in roles for the sole purpose of hyping yourself up about a gender parity cabinet, and not having fulsom confidence and trust in their perspectives, expertise and intentions while doing their jobs, is not feminist and should not be celebrated.
