I added my name to demand real action from the UK government – not just words - to protect civilians and humanitarian workers in Gaza with @dotwuk.bsky.social. 💙 Please take a minute to do the same.

Redecorating.
I am in paint
Steep'd in so far, that should I paint no more
Cleaning off were as tedious as going o'er.
My complexion beyond fair, palest ivory
Speckled as the autumn moon
My hair holds foretastes of winter's blasts
And my house scented with all the perfumes of B&Q.

Odd facts you come across: Tutankhamun had scoliosis, a cleft palate, a club foot, a flat foot, degenerative bone disease, sickle cell anaemia & recurrent malaria. He also had a broken leg that never healed properly, so walked with a limp and needed a stick. Frankly, it's a wonder he lived to be 18.

"We identified and stopped $50 million being sent to Gaza to buy condoms for Hamas, which they used for bombs."

Interpret that how you like.

Just thinking about what would have happened if Katherine of Aragon's son, Prince Henry the Duke of Cornwall had lived, instead of dying a couple of months after birth. There would have been Henry IX on the throne, the Reformation need not have happened, Elizabeth might never have come to power 1/2

Noticed something in the garden, went out: another plant pot has cracked and large chunks of ceramic have fallen off, thanks to sub-freezing temperatures. I now need to repot a small conifer and a large bowl of primroses. The joys of winter.

Just admiring someone's sunny winter photos and was about to say it's various shades of grey here, but shades of grey is no longer a phrase that can be used...

Ice and freezing fog all day. Tonight has been cosy, with homemade pizza, a glass of Cotes du Rhone, and now a Nozeco champagne cocktail, with real brandy.

I sort of wish I had a real fireplace I could sit and drink this in front of, but know I'd regret having to clean out the grate in the morning.

That reminds me, I saw Banana Hair Drink on the supermarket shelves recently.
I swear to God the shit the missus buys gets weirder every year. How in Christ's name have these two words been put together.

Word of the Day is ‘uhtcearu’ [ucht-kay-aru, with the 'ch' as in the Scottish ‘loch']:

Old English for ‘the sorrow before dawn', when you lie awake in the darkness and worries crowd your mind.

Off to the corner shop on this blisteringly cold night, wrapped up warm. Stars are glowing in the sky, frost visibly settling. A large, bareheaded man in jacket and jeans is sitting on a metal bench smoking a cigarette, shopping bags at his feet, like it's just a normal summer evening 🥶

I'm old enough to remember Netscape 1, and the first incarnation of Internet Explorer. There was a facility in one, or the other, I can't remember which, which let you block pictures you didn't want to see. If only we could have that back. I could happily block certain grinning politicians.
