That's a good way of putting it. I really believe that people have just forgotten how to deal with discomfort.

If it wasn't so insulting it would almost be kind of funny. The arrogance in believing they know what a sexual assault victim looks like, as if they're the authority on the matter. It's absurd.

And heaven forbid it makes someone uncomfortable. How dare there be any kind of conversation about sexual assault, it's upsetting to other people! Hide it away!

It truly is ridiculous. The amount of times I've been met with incredulity, even from people I'd trusted, it's enough to lose your mind. All they're doing is showing exactly why so many of us hide that we've been sexually assaulted.
