i did a redraw.. tried to make him look like a certain fatui but eh ┐⁠(⁠´⁠ー⁠｀⁠)⁠┌

I showed an artist friend my recent sketches. They were impressed until I mentioned that I used references. Then they were obviously disappointed. What is this mentality of "art is only good when made without references"?
