anyways heres my more slightly spoilery thoughts on azran legacy filtered for spoilers :] i’ll add more thoughts as i go but im excited to play the first two games!!

also one of my best friends ever freaking Loves grosky so im glad he exists. Just for him

speaking of daily life.. there was an added section called special episodes that showed each character’s daily life or scenario which was really sweet.. but some of these episodes SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE STORY!!!!! ESPECIALLY THE EMMY ONES!!!!

she is so headstrong and confident but shes also verySmart!!!! like she can keep up with layton smart!!!! and she’s athletic! i want to know where she learnt combat and why! and her daily life!

ok but i really think emmy should have gotten more screentime. its no surprise given how the franchise treats their women characters but emmy’s connections with certain people and layton really needed more show-not-tell type of writing… because i love emmy to bits!!!

also layton’s avoidant attachment style i see you. You cant get away

like thats his freaking godfather!!!!!!

last spectre’s story is sooo good though. i am pretty biased too cuz it highlights luke’s childhood and i really like luke hes like a little british boy you keep in your pocket.. it made me sad to see how different luke was before he met layton:((

also fun fact, the UK version of last spectre excludes the rpg life sim, so i got my hands on an NA version… i havent gone too far because i was busy farming coins with juggling balls as a clown😔

ok but not to lost future glaze but i do think that one game really outshines these three games as a whole. bias wise because i noticed a lack of mechs BEING PILOTED!!! Especially in azran legacy

i think my favorite part of the game’s visual direction when it went into the 3ds was definitely how you examine backgrounds. everything felt like they had depth despite them being hand painted assets or textures and i thought it was so cool and immersive!!!! its so good!!!

one thing i want to point out with azran legacy that i thought had a really great concept but failed in execution is the world exploration segment where you were able to explore any area in any order; but i think that section was too long and each location didnt get enough screentime as a result

i think ranking the games based off which one i liked most, spectre’s call is my most favorite and azran legacy is my least. miracle mask hits that sweet spot even if its my least favorite graphics wise

also who would have thought that the layton movie was a MANDATORY watch for the trilogy!!!!!!! i’m not complaining though its a great movie heh

the overarching villain in the prequel, descole, was very endearing for me, but maybe because his identity was already spoiled for me by the time i started azran legacy i had a harder time getting attached to him for the more emotional parts

the prequel definitely had its challenges as it was moving over to the 3ds with new visuals but visually wise its consistently strong!!
