I’m leaning towards an ‘incident’ which left one of his eyes permanently damaged

(small disclaimer: no you don’t need perfect vision to be a pilot. so long as your vision can be corrected with contacts or glasses to 20/20 and 20/40 (varies by country), you’re good. this is something else but I’m leaving it at that for now)

One can only imagine his surprise when, boarding his plane as a freshly hired pilot at Yunmeng Airways, he sees LWJ.

LWJ, dressed in the purple Yunmeng Airways cabin crew uniform, adjusting his glasses as he finishes the flight’s safety briefing with the rest of the cabin crew.

In his years of bush flying and subsequent years as a regional pilot at Yiling Wings, he had always kept an ear out for LWJ’s smooth voice on the radio.

He had always been certain that LWJ, of all people, would be the best pilot.

LWJ, for his part, manages to get in with Air Gusu’s cadet program.

Their paths don’t cross for another 13 years.

When they do meet again, it’s not the reunion WWX had expected. Far from it.

They leave the school with a promise to fly together again as well as a challenge to see who would make the big leagues first.

WWX goes on to work as a bush pilot, flying out of remote airports and regions. It’s hard work, sometimes dangerous, but he loves it.
