Yeah I think the main difference is how I viewed the initial message vs this one. In either case, Nani didn’t have the capacity as is to be a good mom to Lilo. She needed to lean on her Ohana to do that.
If she was there or not, it’s no different. She found family to make sure her sis was ok

i am becoming this movie’s strongest soldier not bc i liked it that much but bc i am so defensive of giving lilo to a non-blood auntie. That’s the definition of ohana as i grew up

This whole thing has been weird for me bc like everyone I’ve talked to IRL has been like yeah that ending makes sense. Of course you should let your auntie raise lilo for a few years

To be clear we always intended to offload the debt, it was just never a good time to do it (partially Musk but also markets just fucked every bridge at the time)
