and with what i’m seeing as increased consumer interest in linux based OS’s, and the improved ease of use with AMD hardware in those OS’s and even increased gaming performance in some cases with AMD GPUs, i wouldn’t be surprised if AMD made at least a small increase in market share in the next year
December 9, 2025 at 1:08 AM
I think you’re both right here. AMD is definitely dropping the ball on their opportunity to increase consumer GPU market share, what with the RX 9000 series having no competitor to the 5090 (or even the 5080 really), but anecdotally i switched to AMD after being an nvidia user my whole life

Hi Ed! Perhaps I missed it in the piece, but which company would you say Nvidia most closely resembles? I don’t recall any definite statement on that line in the article. You cite Michael Burry a few times and i vaguely recall him saying that “they’re not Enron, they’re Cisco!” would you agree?

hell yeah! imo it really is the best way to have a “smart tv”, desktop hardware, even old stuff, is generally way faster than what they put in tvs.
December 7, 2025 at 3:08 PM
apart from not having to return the TV, another benefit of this is that it bypasses the data collection from the tv

idk if you’re looking for recommendations on what to do, but you can buy an old dell workstation PC on ebay for like $50, flash a home theater operating system on it and many of them have pre-installed apps for just about every streaming service.

why clear individual buildings when big boolet can punch through a city block?
December 6, 2025 at 3:26 PM
do you mean 51 or was the army experimenting with Mosin Nagant rounds at some point recently?
December 6, 2025 at 3:25 PM
that’s the other thing though, wouldn’t the development of the Everything Gun cost more than simply evaluating existing models or the development of 3 specialized weapons? at the risk of stating the obvious it just all seems incredibly wasteful
December 6, 2025 at 3:22 PM
Why is the immediate premise that we need a single, all-rounder weapon? why not have multiple options that soldiers/marines are trained on and capable of using. i’m assuming it’s for simplifying logistics, but with greater options comes greater flexibility.

have you considered “Americanophobia (endearing)”?
December 4, 2025 at 2:54 PM
Ed, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you that your podcast has made me a much more effective AI hater.

Now whenever I debate with the Pro-AI crowd at my university, it’s clear that they have no idea how fucked these companies are and they just enjoy how the products help them cheat.
