not that i’m excusing anything. it’s just interesting, in a way, to see how most millennials became desensitised to gore content because of the way the internet used to just plaster that shit around when we were kids.

i was so young when people started talking about the 2 g*rls 1 c*p video in REGULAR CONVERSATION. people used to SHARE IT in msn messenger groups. it was like sharing shock value media was treated as a ritual—you get traumatised and you have to traumatise your friends sort of thing.

i still think the way people talk about the m*lk fic is so funny because there are WAY worse things out there that came from the 2000s.

it’s like one of my friends who always bring up a specific extremely shock value hp fanfic that she read ages ago whenever she can LMAO. i feel like most millennials would hear her and be like ‘yeah ofc this exists in the world’ but younger people would be freaking tf out.

thinking about this because sonny and alban mentioned a horrid meme on stream yesterday that i had forgotten about and took me a minute to remember and even so i was like. oh ofc they know about this shit. they are MILLENNIALS.

esp in anime fandom spaces, there was a point in the 2000s–2010s where shock value memes were the most normal thing to come across on random websites, even youtube. people just acted as if it was a ‘prank’ to sent each other the grossest, most awful shit. and those are stuck in our brains forever.
