I think they're fascinating sectors as there's a case for a sectoral approach to emissions reduction rather than the State/Party-centric model.

Also worth noting that the EU's policies, particularly the inclusion of both sectors into the EU ETS/CBAMs have gone a long way to catalyse global action. Arguably more effective than ICAO/IMO/UNFCCC negotiations.

IMO (the global shipping body) is aiming for net zero by 2050, have introduced fuel standards and a carbon pricing mechanism.

CORSIA is an offsetting scheme for international aviation that will eventually be mandatory.
