It wasn't exactly "redemption". Since Morgana didn't forgive them but she just lifted the curse off all the residents of the mansion as a thank you for Michel, the final chapter of the game was how Michel's reunion with Giselle broke the curse

The purpose of door 8 was to demonstrate the motives behind the 3 characters of the first doors and give a small peek at Requiem for Innocence's story, it also shed more light on Jacopo's character (and the other 2 too tbh)

I assume you probably didn't unlock the real ending. Was your last door the 4th? The game has 8
