Labor Day isn’t a gift from the powerful. It was won in the streets through strikes, organizing, and workers demanding more than exploitation and injustice.

This week marks 80 years since the U.S. dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima & Nagasaki. As we honor the lives stolen by nuclear colonialism, we know this violence didn’t start or end there – it was built on a long legacy of settler colonialism, militarism, & imperialism that still continues today.

They say we “can’t afford” to take bold climate action.

But the truth is, we can’t afford not to. A 🧵

It’s not the climate crisis keeping them up at night. It’s us – the young people who are angry, organized, and not backing down.

Because we’re not just sounding the alarm. We’re coming for their power.

None of this is accidental.

Militarism. Climate disaster. Displacement. Extraction.

It’s all working as designed – for the rich, for the powerful, and for the few.

Since 2019, YUCCA has been fighting for a future we can survive.

Not just one where we recycle more. Not one where polluters get a tax break to “go green”.

A future rooted in justice, shaped by community, and grounded in the truth: our lives are on the line.

Right now, people in positions of power are using SLAPP Suits (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation) to intimidate activists, drain our resources, and punish anyone who speaks out against them.

This week, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin announced his plans to roll back over 30 critical environmental regulations - covering everything from emissions limits to water protections, to bedrock scientific findings.

Policing & prisons don’t protect us; they protect power. The system was never broken–it was built to cage, control, & kill us.

📢 Last month, we joined 495 organizations to send a letter to Congress urging action to reverse Trump’s mass firing of thousands of federal employees.

These dedicated public servants safeguarded our ecosystems & protected public lands. Trump isn’t “cutting costs” – he’s endangering our environment.

Over 175 wildfires are burning across North and South Carolina – destroying homes, forcing evacuations, and burning thousands of acres of land. All while Trump is terminating thousands of essential Forest Service personnel and freezing grants that fund wildfire prevention.
