Very unlikely, but almost certainly.
I guess this is why they have all looked and behaved completely differently across different media for the last 72 years with absolutely no notable consistency, continuity, or backstory whatsoever.

It is unclear why people are finding this so difficult. Do they really think there is an unbroken line of continuity from Octopussy to Spectre, for example?

In the general case (of which this BBC thing is one example) I agree completely.

That's all the ill informed guesswork I have available this morning.

So while it probably was still blurred a) your brain already compensates for the magnification effect and b) it was less blurred than you'd expect (e.g. looking forwards out of the windscreen) so it looked more in focus than it was.

Might be something to do with the convex mirror which attempts to do the wide-angle thing while keeping it in focus. The fact that it does still distort may have been somewhat compensatory for your particular prescription.

It felt almost transgressive to make this show, something I found both interesting and exciting. “This is happening without your permission.” Whose? The author’s? The listeners’? TLS subscribers’? Huge thanks to @unamccormack.bsky.social and Nicky for engaging with it so wholebrainedly. LISTEN NOW!

4:30-5 family drama from CBBC. Stick a CBeebies/CBBC bridging show on CBBC in that slot so older VOSDAL kids go to BBC1. Pop Antiques Road Trip onto BBC2. 5-5:15 Newsround, 5:15-6 Pointless, 6 News, 6:30 Local News, 7 Nationwide...sorry The One Show. Minimal change. Cost neutral.

It turned into a really lovely programme, quite unlike any other archaeology show - really all about the experience of the practice. Fascinating and quite beautiful.
