Though this tree has gone the whole way - though mainly because it's just been pollarded so it's leaves won't be blocking the gutter/downright on the cathedral roof!

Generally we are the same but we make an exception for All Souls

Reading Notes: The Commemoration of the Faithful Departed (All Souls' Day) may be celebrated on Monday 3 November instead of the Lesser Festival of Richard Hooker.

Had a revelation just now. We have a roller iron at work (for liturgical linen). It has a dial in middle of 3 dots two 1 dot. And labelled linen/ cotton, woollens/ silks, minimum iron/synthetics. Then it has one on the end with a line that gets bigger from left to right.
What does it do?

I found a memorial to a deaconess who died in 1937 today. As a child i didn't realise how long there had been Deaconesses. I met one in 1986 who was deaconed the following year.

The Evening Prayer / Evensong Bible. Is sturdy reasonably legible not too big, but this edition lacks the apocrypha. OUP may do an equivalent with it.

Now I'm in work I've realised I've examples. The morning Prayer bible is great for legibility and had the apocrypha but is far too heavy to be transportable

Some Spanish kids had the opportunity to learn about Rowntree on Monday in that there were crowds of them staying in the a youth hostel at York which had a board with rowntree history including 8 hour days

Grins. Yes, you don't have a view to compare with this. Not even from the top of the escalator.

Nearly finished current book (Cath Fenthyg by Myfanwy Alexander) what should I read next? Shortlist is @valmcdermid.bsky.social 's Report for Murder, @pgjonesvenice.bsky.social 's Venetian Sanctuary and @anncleeves.bsky.social 's A Lesson in Dying

Decide to join plainchant evensong from the site of Leicester Abbey as it seemed to have stopped raining. It started raining as I was doing the first lesson so I moved under a tree and then saw this wonderful rainbow. Which is very faintly a double rainbow

Hmmm, evidence in Leicester disproves this
