Before They Were 3D: A look at some early(ish) fighting games yreval.dreamwidth.org/2261.html

Sega and Namco (and Tecmo, to a lesser extent) helped to create the 3D fighting sub-genre in the mid-90s. But did you know that all three companies already had at least one 2D fighter under their belt?

Athena's had enough of being just a little girl with power inside - now she's just a little gyaru with power inside

...and I remembered HOG but wasn't sure if it was still around. Some quick research indicated it was and so we went over this afternoon when we had some time to kill

I first heard about this place on the Neo Empire (UK FGC website that ran from about 2005-2012), so this place has been around for a while. My brother (who I was travelling with to see the AEW show at the O2 on Sunday) asked me if I knew any good arcades in London...

I was only able to stay for about an hour and a half, but that was enough to confirm that this place was as good as I heard it is, and I'll definitely pay another visit the next time I'm in London

On my way back from a weekend in London - one place I recommend to anyone with even a passing interest in arcade gaming is Heart of Gaming on North End Road in Croydon www.heartofgaming.co.uk

I want more fighting games with shorter supers that do bigger damage and I'm not joking

Here's something you may remember if you were active in the Irish FGC during the SF4 era

It's a beautiful summer's day in Dublin's fair city, so obviously I will be spending it in a hotel basement playing SF6

I thought I had a 2:41 in me, but I was thinking more like 2:41.9, maybe 2:41.8 if I was being optimistic... I certainly didn't expect this!

Also, I had a chance to play it on real hardware today. This was Arcade Practice mode rather than Time Attack (and on the PAL version as well), so not exactly the same conditions, but you get the idea

Been experimenting with different lines through some corners, and it seems to have paid off.
