For sure, I think this started because the root post (what does bsky call OP?) thought Dune 2 shouldn't be considered in Best Picture because it isn't original plot. But I'd argue Dune 2 is in the vein of LOTR and The Godfather. And I put sequels that I think of as equal or better than the first.

Couple weeks ago GPT was down and I typically use it for like, SQL queries and stuff. I felt like I was back in 2022 and had to just GOOGLE what I wanted lol.

@mophead909.bsky.social was talking about how Best Picture should be an original story, but both those movies are adaptations.
Maybe a better point would be The Godfather 2, Shrek 2, Blade Runner 2049, or Paddington 2 in terms of "Great, in a series"

I don't think it needs to be an original story. Plot is only one part of a movie. Are you going to discount Oppenheimer or Jurassic Park just because they aren't original plots?

I was reading a reddit thread, and they mentioned people talking during movies. However one person said a dude said "NosferaTUAH" at the end of the movie, and that lives rent free in my head.

Yeah for sure I guess I meant some of the really commonly used features but I guess everyone uses things different. None of my coworkers use the “Search By Symbol” which I use all the time.
