Same thing happened to me with the Lone Wolf series. Author was British and when I rediscovered the series as an adult I found out many of the later books just never made it over to the States.

When I reinstalled it last time I spent about two or three hours installing a bunch of vetted mods that made the game play like the creators originally intended, but also added some to the stability. I think I'm about 7 hours of play the game crashed on me once.

Had something similar happen where at an old job they would celebrate monthly birthdays. My bday was about 4 days off from my coworkers who had been there 2 years but forgot mine who had been there 9. To his credit he remembered, said something and then made it super awkward for management 😆
