I guess it's mostly about being a small charity and having to pick and choose where we can have an impact - and how we can best reach those without those experiences . . .as we grow, we know there is opportunities. I love the paid bikebus leaders, like crossing guards in Ontario?

Youth are empowered - they can take control of their lives . . .at least a bit. We also think they'll be more empathetic drivers, once they do get behind wheel.
So, while we love a good #bikebus, we think mode shift is more sustainable when the decision to bike is make by kids, not adults.

Through trial and error, we've learned age 14-17 is our sweet spot. These kids are keen to learn about urban planning, traffic calming and the term vision zero. They are also itching for independence & parents are tired of chauffeuring, so we can actually shift travel mode. Along the way, . . . ./

Hi there #bike fans. Wanted to weigh in. We run programs in #yyc teaching teens to bike safely. 6.5% of youth age 15-18 in our wealthy, very surburban city have never been on a bike. We teach skills, boost confidence and then give kids bikes, helmets, locks and tools. #yycbike #bikebus .../

Yes! we'd love to get some help from parents to get better bike parking at schools. New schools have parking for 400 bikes, old ones? there were schools with NO parking when we started. LEt's talk!
