I may have picked it up from a slip of the tongue from my Grandma, who, for the entirety of her life that I know of, was convinced “phantom” was pronounced “phanthom” (sort of rhymes with “anthem”)

All I can really think of was I didn’t see the word “camel” in print particularly often at that age. I did learn to read with the phonetic method (you can tell, because I can read.)

This is 100% on point but non Chicagoans don’t know what “stuffed” is and sometimes they lose the plot if you get too specific
