There's also something akin to transcendence meters, though that comes with similar complications. You could rack up charge via providing buffs to allies, for instance, but that then means balancing values based on ease of applicability.

encounters are built around its existence, so you can't just. completely 100% remove it. Renegades introduced a new possibility, of an ability toggle, but then that raises more questions. Who gets the ability? What is a healthy level of power tradeoff for having it? How many uses per team? Recharge?
