Thanksgiving is a day to whitewash genocide and to psychologically weoponize the concept of gratitude.

Thanksgiving is about being grateful for what you benefitted from genocide.

I don’t care if you think you’re a ‘good’ person or someone ‘who gets it’. You will never be a good settler on stolen land, especially not when you are not in relationship to the indigenous people of this land. It is that simple.

Gratitude is an immensely powerful practice to move towards wholeness, oneness, and balance. Claiming genocide as those things will only ever reinforce your commitment to fascism and all systems of oppression.

The truth is, everyday we commit to fascism. It’s in the jobs we have, the transportation we take, the money we spend, how we raise our kids - everything is an investment in systems of oppression unless we’re investing to build a liberated world. We are all accountable for this world.

Thanksgiving is a celebration of the world white supremacy has built, but the work does not begin or end with a single day.

We are all accountable. It is our responsibility to build a liberated world.

I am so grateful for the grace and love Indigenous folks here have given me. I would not extend the same to settlers in Falasteen.
If we were in Falasteen and you told me:
“It’s a Friendsgiving”
“It’s the only day we can gather”
“We get it”
I would at the very least set your stolen house on fire.

This work cannot happen on stolen land without deep relationships with the people of this land.

Remember, there is no good settler on stolen land - so we build a better world.
