Then compare Japan to China which has a larger GDP than Japan but not per capita. Just having more people doesn’t automatically make the average individual richer.

Not necessarily, Japan's GDP per capita has held up despite falling birthrates and an inability or will to attract overseas labour.

The dozens of seats the Tories lost to Lib Dems and Labour are neither middle class lefty voters or obsessed with immigrants and Europe. Reform make little headway in those marginal.
