5/6) He was a leader without peer. A light of what could be if we all just leaned more with curiosity instead of vitriol. As the most progressive Pope in the Church’s history, we honor his legacy by reminding ourselves, “The tongue has the power of life and death.” Proverbs 18:21

4/6) He did so with grace and humility and through calling us in to see each other as neighbors and to be better people to one another. To find the threads that connect us and bind our existence to one another instead of fraying and dismantling the tapestry that unite us.

3/6) His steadfastness to climate change, welcoming the LGBTQIA+ community, being a voice for peace in midst of wars, and championing for human dignity and social justice have left an indelible mark on our collective history.

2/6) His values were complex yet nuanced when it came to fully advocating for those who live on the margins of society.
