If you convince people that authoritative control is the best solution to the horrible, overwhelming ills of society, they’ll welcome it and overlook the loss of freedom and justify the subjugation of others.

Putin can no longer be a villain if Trump and supporters believe the best way to implement their vision and hold on to power is to replicate Putin’s model of governance. Trump wants to BE a Putin. Democracy does not serve him. Popular resistance - which Ukraine represents - needs to be the enemy.

I don’t think many people are ok, but emotional regulation and impulse control issues seem to affect men quite badly - and we are the ones with hormonal upheavals! I guess we have practice in our favour, these inflammatory times seem to trigger the nasty in the less skilled (and more resentful).
