My guess is that you are mixing Git and Github.
Git is a version control software, it keeps track of changes to your files. Like a ledger. A powerful tool.
Github is just a site hosting Git repositories. A sort of cloud provider with some extra bells and whistles.
They can be used separately.

I do agree they should've not used gen AI for the voices. I still think it's a little extreme of so many people to write off an entire game because of one critique point and ignoring all the passion the devs put in. The game is so much more than a few voice lines.
