The new electric Caltrain trains are sweet. They have absurdly good wifi too. Fares are pricy though - the tracks are broken up into zones, and you pay for how many zones you are travelling. A day pass in one zone is > $12. Contrast to the Link train in Seattle which is $6/day for the whole line.

They do seem to have gotten the design right. The controller scheme was always a bit weird with the disc and the cards, but you do need to have those to make the experience authentic. Nice.

It's also not realistic to think conservatism is going to go away due to all the recent damage and low polling rates. Democracy needs to provide for everyone, and people need to be OK with 'you win some, you lose some'

For those of us who grew up with a parent that worshipped William F Buckley and voted for Nixon, Reagan, Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. and had to listen to all the right wing assholes who frankly never gave a shit about anyone but white men it's understandable why we would rather they lose all power forever
