All this to say, Democrats, please just pick something to run on next time, instead of an overarching and vague idea for a better future. Attack it. Get people together. Less educated people don’t care about particulars, and that’s the biggest area we can gain voters. Dumb it down a little!

Find an issue, attack it, and bring people together. So what if some of the party don’t care about that issue? I’m sure a lot of Trump voters don’t truly care about trans rights either way. But, they choose to focus on that issue and rally people together.

As the more intelligent party (sorry, but it’s true), we need to let go just a tiny bit of the issues most personal to us if we ever have a chance at a clear path forward. It’s easy to play a reactionary game when it comes to Republicans, but I don’t agree that’s who we are as a party.

Republicans find one beacon to come together on, and they attack it. Democrats need to find a common cause like this, and as voting party members, we need to get behind it.

They find one issue, focus on it until it’s beaten to death, and then move on. It shouldn’t be surprising to us that this strategy will bring large amounts of constituents together, even if they don’t personally care about the topic being over-discussed.

The biggest problem I see with the party is that nobody can agree what the biggest issue to fight is. Healthcare equity, economic stability, civil rights protections, foreign diplomacy, etc. Meanwhile, the biggest strength of the Republican Party is that they don’t fracture themselves in this way.
