Flew from coop after 15 years following arrival of a black cuckoo!

I love that picture you created this morn, Hannah.
For me, a great tit feeding on the peanuts during an interlude in the rain.

A pair of longtail tits on the telecoms wire taking a break and perusing the lack of activity in the garden below, soon joined by another pair. Then the resident tit families came out as it began to fair, so they joined them all about the feeders in growing numbers.

Likewise, a group of tree sparrows perched in the now skeletal hawthorn, pondering as they take in the view of their wet world. A familiar and welcome sight, signalling that Winter is truly here.

A solitary bluetit venturing out on a frozen morn to sample the seed in a replenished feeder. But the sun is venturing out, too, so maybe water troughs and the gated garden pond will thaw somewhat today.

A Carrion Crow angrily chasing a Wood Pigeon across the laden sky, just as a flurry of snow commenced, as if it was its fault.

Five or six buzzards circling in and out of low lying cloud after early snow. Across the Vale of York the N.Yorkshire Moors and Howardian Hills are still showing a covering.

A lone seagull flying overhead in a north westerly direction with a starling flock further away, swirling and gathering higher, heading in the opposite direction.

A welcome sight this dry morning, a blackbird pair tempted by apple after they had been absent for several weeks. But just missed being FBOMD which was a robin and bluetit pair.

Ah, you have the beautiful menace problem, too.

A Goldfinch bringing colour and cheer to a damp gloomy morn. I hope it stays clear of the Sparrowhawk which was laying siege to the garden birds yesterday; a beautiful but deadly bird.

A great tit and the bluetit family battling the strong breeze in making short journeys to the nearest feeder.

A fine morning and all the bluetits are out enjoying the respite from rain and drizzle.

The bluetits and great tits seeking sustenance, flying back n forth from the now skeletal hawthorn hedge on a still grey day.

A Great Tit happily trying out a new seed feeder replacing one that fell to the ground persistently. Not sure the starling gang will be so happy about it! But they will still find seed spread about for them, they will just have to work a bit harder to find it.

A magpie, collared dove and starling, pecking together around the grass near the feeders, showing off their varied plumage to brighten the start of a dull morning.

First a Carrion Crow, its harsh call breaking the dark silence.
Later, a bluetit, unusually, taking a lone quiet moment to survey the garden atop of a feeding station on a misty morning.

A haze of birds rising up as I opened the lounge curtains on a damp, grey morning. The first to brave returning for identification: the great tit family.

So do I, they are so elegant and genteel. Although one does appear to be bullying another persistently, continually chasing it and not allowing it to settle anywhere.

The collared doves pecking around the gravel at the rear. Tried to avoid them by looking through a different window! But they are everywhere, showing off their beautiful fan tails as they arise, taking off in surprise.

The colours are very vibrant but it is just beginning to get thinner. Still enough foliage to conceal which culprit is making the leaves shiver as emerging. Not for long though.

Bluetits flitting around from the now Autumn hawthorn to the peanut feeders, enjoying the peace before the descent of the starlings and collared doves into the garden.
